MONROE, La. (AP) - Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo is considering a shift in oversight for the Monroe Regional Airport.

Currently, the airport is under the city's Department of Public Works. The News-Star reports that Mayo may move the airport under his executive division.

Mayo said he's already talked with Public Works Director Tom Janway. Mayo said Janway's department already including sanitation, water, sewer, streets and transit. Mayo said that's already plenty for that agency to handle.

The current grouping was approved by the city council years ago. Any change would require council approval.

Mayo said he's also considering the establishment of a special agency to run the airport.
