MONROE, La. (AP) - Authorities say 32-year-old James Edward
Floyd of Monroe has pleaded innocent by reason of insanity in state district court in connection with a second-degree murder case.
Bob Noel, Floyd's defense attorney, requested Wednesday's formal arraignment.
A Ouachita Parish grand jury indicted Floyd on one count of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Kriss Conner.
Deputies responded to a call of shots fire and found Conner's body outside a home southeast of Monroe.
