MONROE, La. (AP) - The Monroe City School board is scheduled to begin advertising for former Superintendent Kathleen Harris' replacement on Thursday.
But search committee chairman Rodney McFarland said an inappropriate motion by a board member means the board should meet again before starting the search.
Board president Verbon Muhammad said he's moving forward with the search and without an additional meeting, despite McFarland's objections.
McFarland believes a motion by vice president Mickey Traweek to change the make-up of the focus groups and amend the timeline during the last board meeting was out of order.
Muhammad believes it is important for the board to continue on the timeline it approved, which stated advertisements for the position will begin on Nov. 1.
