NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The state of Mississippi has agreed to extradite a suspect in a gunfight that killed one person and injured nine others last month in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
Twenty-year-old Trung T. Le was arrested last week at a home near Gulfport, Mississippi, a short time after being named a suspect in the June 29 shootings along Bourbon Street. He has refused to waive extradition.
Mississippi Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves signed a warrant to extradite Le back to Louisiana on Saturday. Gov. Phil Bryant is out of state.
An extradition request from Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal says authorities will travel to Mississippi to retrieve Le. It was unclear when that will happen.
New Orleans police continue to seek information on another shooter in the case.
