The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the car found at the Dubison Rest Area on I-49 north of Washington is the car reported missing from the home in Lafayette Parish where a woman was found murdered this morning.
The woman was found dead inside of her residence on Lamas Circle. Deputies say this morning at 1:14am the Lafayette Sheriff's Office responded to the 100 Block of Lamas circle in reference to suspicious circumstances. The caller advised he returned home from work and found the victim on the floor of the residence unresponsive and bleeding. Upon deputies arrival they found the victim a 46 year old female to have no signs of life, and the deputies observed obvious signs of foul play consistent with a homicide. The victim's vehicle a 2009 Mazda 3 Blue in color bearing La. Lic SLS132 was missing from the residence.
Deputies are working with state police to determine if the person found dead inside of the missing car had anything to do with this morning's homicide. According to state police, they are investigating the death of the man found inside of the car as a suicide.
