Miss. couple arrested in La. meth possession case

COVINGTON, La. (AP) - A Mississippi couple is facing felony drug charges in St. Tammany Parish after Covington Police found crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in their SUV during a traffic stop.

The Times-Picayune reports police pulled over a red SUV on Monday about 1:30 a.m. because it was swerving.

Capt. Jack West said the officer found three used syringes, a white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine inside and ingredients used to make meth inside the SUV.

Nicholas Floyd Ates, of Moss Point, Miss., was booked with improper lane use, driving under suspension, possession of schedule II methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dawn R. Booker, of Lucedale, Miss., faces charges of possession of schedule II methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It was unclear whether the suspects have attorneys.
