Remington College continues its 3 Lives effort to recruit minority blood donors and help supply local hospitals with blood. 3 Lives is a national effort held in partnership with America's Blood Centers and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America. The effort has resulted in more than 8,200 pints of blood collected since the program began.
The drive will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Remington College Lafayette Campus at 303 Rue Louis XIV in Lafayette.
The goal for 2013 is to pass the 10,000 pint mark.
According to a Remington College press release, the need for blood is high, but only about 5 percent of eligible donors regularly donate blood. Minority donors are in very high demand.
While the primary goal of the 3 Lives campaign is to recruit minority donors, everyone is encouraged to donate blood. All the blood collected will be used to help people in the Lafayette area.
