At 4:18 this morning, Milton, Leblanc, Judice, and Youngsville Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a reported house fire at 211 Bourque Street in Milton for a reported house fire. Upon arrival firefighters found a single family dwelling engulfed in flames. The dwelling was completely destroyed.
The occupants, Joshua Himel, his wife and four year old son, escaped without any injuries. However, the family lost everything in the early morning flames.
Ms. Himel was doing laundry at the time. The laundry room was attached to the carport. She entered the house and shortly began to hear popping sounds. She looked outside towards the laundry room and noticed it was on fire. She woke her husband and son and exited the house.
Fire investigators determined the fire originated in the laundry room. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
