State Senator Fred Mills and Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle have been on a billboard since 5:00 this morning raising money for Louisiana Family Forum's Child Adoption campaign.
Angelle and Mills were supposed to come down from the billboard after raising $10,000, but they've decided they're staying up although they've exceeded their goal.
So far, they've raised $12,500. The billboard is in the 600 block of Kaliste Saloom Rd. near St. Pius Church.
They're staying up all night to try to raise more money. Angelle might be hurting tomorrow considering he has a lunchtime speaking engagement and nightime wedding. Mills jokingly said he may go to sleep in his bed.
People have been dropping off donations since this morning, and late this afternoon Air Med dropped off money. You can donate at http://www.CajuNation.org, or by calling 1-800-606-6470, or texting Cajun to 99000.
There are nearly 500 children who need to be adopted in in Louisiana, and the Family Forum's goal is to place 100 of these foster children into loving, adoptive homes.
In the U.S., there are more than 100,000 children in Foster Care.
