Michigan woman gets son 1 million friends for birthday

A Michigan woman is working to give her 11-year-old son the best birthday ever.

No, she's not buying him a brand new bicycle or some other shiny object.

She's trying to help him feel a little less lonely by seeking encouraging words and birthday wishes on Facebook.

The mother, who is known only as Michelle, set up a Facebook page called "Happy Birthday, Colin" for her son, who, according to ABC News, has a condition similar to Asperger's Syndrome.

That condition, she says on the page, makes social interaction difficult for her son. Michelle says the situation was so bad that when she asked Colin who he wanted to invite to his birthday party, he replied that "there was no point because he has no friends."

The page was launched on February 2. As of 1:30 p.m. CST today, the page has 1.3 million likes. In addition, Michelle already has received numerous letters and cards for Colin via the U. S. Mail.

If you would like to send Colin a card, you may do so by writing the following address:

PO Box 756
Richland, MI 49083-0756

The Facebook page is linked here.
