LAUREL, Miss. (AP) - A welder arrested 15 months ago in Mexico is in a Mississippi jail after extradition and arraignment on charges related to sexual assaults against five women aged 59 and older.
The Hattiesburg American reports that Miguel Oros of Tabasco, Mexico, was extradited Wednesday and arraigned Thursday on three counts of rape, seven of sexual battery and five of burglary.
Authorities have said Oros also is suspected in a 2005 attack in Lauderdale County and an August 2009 assault on an 87-year-old woman in New Iberia, La.
A Jones County grand jury indicted him in 2009. He had been jailed in Mexico since his arrest May 19, 2010.
