Methamphetamine lab located in Iberia Parish

Press Release: On November 9, 2010 at approximately 8:00 p.m. narcotics agents with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office were able to locate a functional Methamphetamine lab in Iberia Parish.

Narcotics agents acted on a tip advising that a methamphetamine lab was located in a field where deputies had arrested five suspects for a theft that had occurred the previous week. The theft took place at the 1400 block of Gulf Boulevard on November 2nd 2010.

Agents were able to locate the lab in a field close to where the suspects had been stranded and subsequently arrested the previous week.

The Louisiana State Police Haz-Mat division was called to assist in the cleanup of the site.

No arrests have been made at this time. However, agents are still conducting their investigation and are predicting several more arrests and charges to occur in the near future.

Sheriff Ackal added "This is an example of the persistent work of his narcotics agents and cooperation from citizens to help stop the production of illegal narcotics in Iberia Parish."
