Two people in St. Mary Parish have been arrested and are accused of selling drugs, including methamphetamine and crack cocaine. Jarrad Cannon, 33, and Katrina Walker, 28, of 617 Sebby Lane Lot 122 in Bayou Vista are facing drug charges. Cannon is already in jail on other charges. "On June 29, 2012, Agents of the St. Mary Parish Narcotics Task Force conducted a traffic stop on Katrina Walker with a small child in the vehicle, which is the result from a long term investigation. During the course of the investigation that followed, Agents located a substantial amount of methamphetamine with an approximate street value of $30,000.00," said St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert. Agents also found crack cocaine worth $1,600, a firearm, body armor and also seized $287 in cash, said Hebert. More arrests are expected.
Cannon is charged with racketeering, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unlawful use or possession of body armor, and possession of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor. Walker is charged with possession of Methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juvenile, possession of firearm in presence of controlled dangerous substance, unlawful possession of body armor, transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of firearm by convicted felon, keeping a disorderly place, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper lane use.
The St. Mary Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, consisting of St. Mary Sheriff Dept., Morgan City Police Dept., Franklin Police Dept., Baldwin Police Dept., Berwick Police Dept., and Chitimacha Police Dept. made the arrests.
