NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) - Iberia Parish high schools and middle
schools soon will be using metal detectors.
Superintendent Dale Henderson said that each high
school will receive two metal detectors, while middle schools and
the alternative school will get one each.
The metal detectors are portable, and Henderson said they could
be used for dances and school athletic events.
The board voted to advertise for bids for the purchase and
installation of the metal detector units. The money for the project
will be drawn from the 2009 bond proposition.
