Metairie apartment complex damaged by fire

METAIRIE, La. (AP) - An overnight fire has heavily damaged a Metairie apartment complex. Officials say 3 people were injured and dozens displaced.
The fire, which broke out about 9 p.m. Sunday, quickly spread, engulfing approximately 58 units of the Chateau Napoleon complex.
Approximately 125 firefighters fought the blaze for nearly eight hours before it was brought under control early Monday morning.
Officials say the injured included a man who hurt his leg when he jumped for the second floor and a woman who jumped and injured her ankle. Another person had some burns, but none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
Fire investigators say they believe the fire started when someone cooking in an apartment walked away from the stove and left it unattended.
