The chief of Police for the Village of Mermentau found herself on the wrong side of the law. Chief Amber Dubois was arrested by Crowley Police after officers were called to a home concerning a disturbance at the 200 Block of East 15th Street.
Authorities found Dubois at the house of an acquaintance. She was reportedly being confrontational. After being told not to go in the house, she disregarded the command and then struck the victim.
She is charged with simple battery and also malfeasance in office. This charge could be dropped, however, because the crime did not happen while dubois was currently acting as chief.
