Mental hospital move: other agencies feel adrift

PINEVILLE, La. (AP) - People who run nonprofit agencies on the grounds of a state mental hospital are wondering what will happen to them, since Central Louisiana State Hospital is moving to smaller campus in Pineville.
Pathways Community Behavioral Health Services and the Cenla Chemical Dependency Council are two of the nonprofits that now have rent-free space in buildings on the old campus.
They tell The Town Talk that that they feel they're being cast adrift.
State Department of Health and Hospitals spokeswoman Lisa Faust says that's not so. She says the nonprofits will have at least 18 months to find new space.
State health secretary Bruce Greenstein said Feb. 1 that Central State will build a 60-bed facility on state land next to Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.
