A memorial service for Blair Manuel, 56, a Eunice native presumed dead in the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform, will be held in early May.
The service, according to his mother, will be on May 7 at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Manuel was the son of L.D. and Geneva Manuel. A chemical engineer, he was on the platform when it exploded and burned on the night of April 20.
The Coast Guard searched 5,200 square miles of the Gulf of Mexico for him and 10 other missing workers until Friday night. More than 100 other workers were rescued.
Manuel, who had just begun a shift on the platform, lived in Gonzales and was engaged to be married in July.
He worked for M.I. Swaco of Houston.
