A monument that's been standing at Lafayette Regional Airport for nearly 20 years is causing controversy in Lafayette's Aviation Community.
Commercial pilot James Thibodeaux says he's upset because a monument built in honor of a well respected pilot, Paul Fornet is gone.
Thibodeaux says the name plaque that's currently standing is only part of the memorial.
He says another piece stood not far from it.
Airport officials say a piece of artwork was built around the same time the monument was.
The artwork was moved but the memorial is still standing.
