The Melville Board of Aldermen approved last night its budget for the 2013-2014 fiscal year.
The budget has been delayed for nearly a month as three meetings pertaining to its passage were canceled due to a lack of quorum. Mayor Willie Haynes says four aldermen attended the Monday meeting, approving the $2.3 million budget.
The current fiscal year began September 30. The town operated under the 2012-2013 budget during the month-long gap between the start of the fiscal year and the current budget's approval.
