The Following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 04/03/2014
1. Kiersten Johnson, 32 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/03/2014 @ 07:54am
Charge: Illegal Window Tint, Driving Under Suspension and a Warrant for Simple Criminal Damage to Property Over $500.00
While on patrol, a Morgan City Police Officer observed a vehicle that had very dark window tinting. A traffic stop was conducted at which time officers spoke with the Driver of the Vehicle Kirsten Johnson. Officers checked the window tint and found that it was over the legal limit; upon further investigation it was found that Ms. Johnson was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver's license and that she also was a wanted subject. Johnson was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and later released on bond of $1447.00
According to the arrest warrant Ms. Johnson is accused of damaging a lap top computer that belonged to another person and a warrant was filed for her arrest on October 13th, 2013.
2. Harold Jones, 36 years of age, Address- New Orleans, La. was arrested on 04/03/2014 @ 8:03am
Charges: Aggravated assault with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Introduction of Contraband into a Penal Facility, Illegal Carrying of weapons while in possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and for Warrants for the St. Mary Parish Sheriffs Office
3. Joshua Bertrand, 35 years of age, Address- Houma, La. was arrested on 04/03/2014 @ 8:03am
Charges: Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Principle to Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
Morgan City Police Department received a call from a resident on Ninth St. in regards to aggravated assault with a gun. Officers learned from the caller that the subjects left the area and gave officers a description of the vehicle that the suspect left in. Officers Located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Railroad Ave. at Federal Ave. in Morgan City. A traffic stop was conducted at which time officers detained Jones and Bertrand. During the investigation a sawed off shotgun was located in the vehicle. Upon speaking to the victim it was learned that Jones had knocked on the residence and upon the victim opening the door, Jones produced the shotgun and made death threats toward the victim. The victim slammed the door and immediately called police. Jones then got back into the vehicle and was driven from the area by Bertrand. Upon officers talking to Bertrand they observed that he dropped an item to the ground, upon retrieving the item officers found that it was a metal pipe that had been fashioned to smoke illegal narcotics. Bertrand was questioned in regards to the incident on Ninth St. and he advised that he was requested to drive Jones to the residence to rob an individual of narcotics and in doing so he would be given a portion of the illegal narcotics. Officers then spoke to Jones at which time he admitted to going to the residence with the intent of retrieving personal items. Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where they were booked and incarcerated with no bond set. During the course of booking Mr. Jones he was searched and found that he had a piece of suspected crack cocaine hidden in his sock. Jones was additionally charged with the introduction of Contraband into a penal facility and for the Possession of Crack Cocaine. He was then found to be a convicted felon, therefore he was additionally charged.
4. Gary Draper, 41 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/03/2014 @ 12:05pm
Charge: Warrant-Failure to Appear for Arraignment for Disturbing the Peace Intoxicated
Morgan City Police were dispatched to the Days Inn in regards to subject there that was wanted by this department. Officers went to the location and made contact with Gary Draper and found that he was a wanted subject. Draper was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
5. Ronald Barrow, 39 years of age, Address- Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/03/2014 @ 3:01pm
Charges: Illegal Window Tint, Driving Under Suspension and Warrants for Morgan City PD for FTA for Speeding and No Insurance.
While on patrol, a Morgan City Police Officer observed a vehicle being driven that had very dark window tint. A traffic stop was conducted. Officers spoke to the driver Ronald Barrow. Officer checked and found that the window tint was over the legal limit. Upon further investigation it was found that Barrow was operating the vehicle with a suspended drivers license and that he was also a wanted subject through Morgan City Police.
Barrow was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
6. Shelly Lewis, 47 years of age, Address- Dry Prong, La. was arrested on 04/03/2014 @ 6:43Pm
Charge: Probation Violation
While on patrol, a Morgan City Police Officer conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking to the driver Shelly Lewis it was found that she was a wanted person through this department. Lewis was placed under arrested and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated.
7. Eric Tabor, 28 years of age- Address-Thibodaux, La. was arrested on 04/03/2014 @8:23PM
Charges: Improper Lighting, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
While on patrol, Morgan City Police observed a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted at which time Officers spoke with the driver Eric Tabor. During the conversation Tabor admitted to officers that he had a pipe that was fashioned to smoke illegal narcotics inside of the vehicle. Officers were directed to the item at which time it was seized for evidence. Tabor was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
8. Myles Morgan, 26 years of age, Address-Morgan City, La. was arrested on 04/03/2014 @ 11:43pm
Charge: Disturbing the Peace
Morgan City Police were dispatched to the 1000 Block of Second St. in regards to a male subject that was knocking on doors asking for help. Upon officers arrival they made contact with Myles Morgan. Officers had previous dealing with Morgan in earlier complaints in the night. Upon speaking to Morgan officers detected that Morgan may be under the influence of something as he was acting very strange and extremely paranoid. Morgan City Placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
