The following were arrested by the Morgan City Police Department during the last reporting period beginning 11/07/2013:
1. Somoa Kenyatta Scott, 17 years of age, Address-Village Lane Amelia, Louisiana was arrested on 11/07/2013 @ 10:12am
Charge: Possession of Schedule II CDS-Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute
An officer working radar in the area of Wyandotte on Highway 182 observed an east bound vehicle exceeding the speed limit. The officer conducted
a traffic stop on the vehicle and encountered the driver, Somoa Scott. The driver, according to reports exhibited signs of nervous and suspicious behavior and was
questioned by the officer. Scott declined consent to search his vehicle for illegal contraband and/or weapons. The Morgan City Police Department's new police K-9 dog was summoned to the scene to perform a search of the exterior of the vehicle. The K-9 indicated the presence of the odor of narcotics. Based on the K-9 search, officers searched the vehicle and located a container which contained a large amount of suspected crack cocaine, a controlled substance. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the suspected cocaine was destined for sale and distribution. The subject, Scott was transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and remains incarcerated with no bond yet set.
2. Theadore M. Harris, 27 years of age, Address-Taft St. Patterson, Louisiana was arrested on 11/07/2013 @ 1:15pm
Charge: Warrant: Armed Robbery; Warrant: Armed Robbery with the use of a Firearm
Theadore M. Harris, who was been previously incarcerated and charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted felon as a result of an investigation into an
Armed robbery which occurred on November 5, was formally charged with that alleged armed robbery. Morgan City Police Detectives continued the investigation into the alleged incident and identified Harris as the suspect. Warrants were secured for his arrest. Harris was re-booked and remains incarcerated with no bond yet set.
3. David Joseph Elliott, 36 years of age, Address-Terrebone Street Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 11/07/2013 @ 1:19pm
David Elliott was located at a Terrebone Street residence and placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant for obscenity. The warrant stemmed from an investigation by the Morgan City Police Department based on a complaint that Elliott had sent explicit nude photos of himself to a female who then contacted the police department. Based on evidence and statements, a warrant was secured for Elliott's arrest. He was transported to the Morgan City Poilce Department where he was booked and incarcerated. He was released after posting a $25,000.00 bond.
4. James Leroy Griffin, 24 years of age, Address-Park St. Patterson, Louisiana was arrested on 11/07/2013 @ 2:30pm
Charge: Probation Violation
James Griffin was located in the City Court of Morgan City and placed under arrest for Probation Violation. He was booked into the Morgan City Jail where he remains incarcerated.
5. Ronald Cannon Faulkner, 35 years of age, Address-Halsey St. Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 11/07/2013 @ 4:21pm
Charge: Speeding; Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended Drivers License; No Insurance; Failure to Register Vehicle
An officer working radar in the Wyandotte area observed a vehicle speeding in the area. The vehicle was clocked using radar. The vehicle and the driver were detained and the driver identified as Ronald Faulkner who could not produce a valid drivers license. Faulkner was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended drivers license and no insurance. He was arrested and transported to the Morgan city Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated.
6. Travis Trumaine Singleton, 30 years of age, Address-Leona Street Morgan City, Louisiana was arrested on 11/07/2013 @ 5:05pm
Charge: Warrant: Simple Battery
A patrolling officer observed Travis Singleton in the area of Orange Street and Federal Avenue and was aware of an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was detained and placed under arrest on the warrant for simple battery . He was transported to the Morgan City Jail where he was booked and incarcerated.
