LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Officials say McNeese State University has reached its second-highest enrollment in the past seven decades 8,941 students, a growth of 3.4 percent this semester.
Jeanne Daboval, provost and vice president of academic affairs, says this is the third consecutive enrollment increase. Enrollment for the fall of 2005 8,992 takes top honors, but that included 232 Hurricane Katrina evacuees.
This fall, McNeese has the highest recorded percentage increase of state public universities on the semester system. The enrollment of continuing students grew by nearly 4 percent.
Registrar April Millet said the College of Nursing gained the largest number of majors among the six academic colleges.
