The Rayne mother whose children died in a 2012 house fire did not appear in court for her pretrial hearing.
According to the Acadia Parish Clerk of Court's Office, Shaqueta McDade's attorney told the judge that McDade is in rehab. Officials say the judge issued a bench warrant. However, records state that if McDade appears in court to be served, the bench warrant will be rescinded.
McDade is charged with four counts of second-degree murder stemming from the April 2012 fire. Prosecutors say the fire started when McDade's children were home along while she was at a bar.
No further court dates have been set.
