McComb-Veazey Coterie seeking volunteers for Saturday gardening event

The McComb-Veazey Neighborhood Coterie is looking for volunteers to help with its Homegrower's Community Garden Fun Day and fundraiser set for Saturday.

Coterie members will be building three raised garden beds and also having a po-boy sale to raise money for additional projects in the neighborhood.

The po-boy sale includes a sausage po-boy, chips and a drink for $6. The sale is from 10 a.m. until all the food is sold.

Volunteers will be helping to build the raised garden beds, as well as planting flowers, veggies and discussing ways to be actively involved in growing the garden.

The coterie will have gloves, refreshments and needed supplies, but members say any additional wheel barrels, shears, or other gardening tools would be appreciated.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 905 Surrey St.
