Marthaville man seriously hurt in US 71 crash

CLARENCE, La. (AP) - State police say a 40-year-old Marthaville man is listed in serious condition after a crash on U.S. Highway 71.
The pickup-tractor crash occurred Wednesday south of Clarence, between a pickup truck and a tractor.
Troopers say a truck, driven by Jerry L. Coutee, had been northbound when it hit a John Deere tractor, driven by 53-year-old L.D. McDaniels, of Natchez, also traveling in the northbound lane.
After hitting the tractor, the pickup ran off the road and hit a tree.
Coutee, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was taken to the LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. McDaniel was not injured.
