Marrero boy drowns tubing on Amite River

WATSON, La. (AP) - The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office says a 12-year-old boy from Marrero drowned during a tubing trip on the Amite River near Watson.
Chief of Operations Perry Rushing says search crews found Gregory Hopkins' body late Sunday morning. He says Hopkins went under Saturday evening while tubing with a group of friends, including several adults, from Marrero.
He says 30 to 40 people were out searching until about 11 p.m. Saturday, and returned at daylight Sunday.
