Mardi Gras Parade Safety Reminders

Mardi Gras events are in full effect today and tomorrow with parades and costume contest. Floats will soon line the streets of the parade route, as will people ready to catch beads for the Queen's Parade tonight. For parade go-ers, there are a few things to keep in mind.
Roads on and around the parade route will close one hour before the parade begins.
Both the intersection of University and Johnston and St. Mary and Johnston will stay open as crossover intersections. Also no parking will be allowed on the streets or sidewalks along the parade routes. Parents are asked to put a note with a name and number in the child's pocket in case you become separated.
