Mardi Gras on the Bayou will be held in Franklin after the Mardi Gras parade along the Bayou Teche on March 4, 2014. This family-friendly event will last for two hours and feature a band and a 40-foot slide.
Nonprofit organizations, churches, school groups, social organizations and Relay for Life teams are wanted to provide and supervise children's games and offer prizes to the children. Carnival games are suggested for the children such as sack races, darts, ring toss, hula hoop contests and horseshoes. Organizations that agree to host a game must be able to supply their own materials and prizes. Additionally, the organizations must have a sign with their name and the cost to play the games.
Organizations that would like to participate as game hosts must complete a game host application. Twelve spaces will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. The deadline to apply to be a game host is Friday, February 28, 2014, at 12 p.m.
Restaurants and caterers are needed to provide food and non-alcoholic drinks to the crowd. Restaurants and caterers will have to complete a vendor application and provide copies of their 2014 occupational license and liability insurance. Each restaurant or caterer must have its own materials to set up along the Bayou Teche. Each must have a sign with its name, items and prices. Twelve spaces will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. The deadline to apply to be a vendor is Friday, January 31, 2014, at 12 p.m.
