In light of the recent passing of beloved musician Al Berard, Sassafrass Jubilee will replace BonSoir Catin in the Mardi Gras music line up at the Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm.
Sassafrass Jubilee will perform at 9 a.m. followed by Corey Ledet and his Zydeco Band at 10:30 a.m. Bonsoir Catin showed its appreciation for the lineup change via the band's official Facebook page.
"We are pleased to announce that Sassafras Jubilee has stepped up and relieved us of our performance Saturday morning at the Lafayette Farmer's and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm so we could support the Berard family. Thanks Sassafras and thanks to everyone at the Market," read the band's post.
A spokeperson said The Market hopes to honor Al Berard "by singing, dancing, and celebrating the Louisiana traditions he will be remembered for preserving."
"Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market extends its deepest condolences to all family members and friends of beloved Cajun musician Al Berard, who passed away this week. Due to the tragic circumstances, members of BonSoir Catin are taking time away from the stage this Saturday to be with loved ones." a release from the organization said Friday.
