Mansura man convicted in Jonesville triple killing

VIDALIA, La. (AP) - A 43-year-old Mansura man has been convicted of killing his girlfriend's mother, sister and brother-in-law.

The Natchez Democrat reports that a Catahoula Parish jury convicted Lee John Ponthieux Jr. last week on three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Annie Bell Adams and Edris Adams Ellard, both of Jonesville, and John Ellard Jr. of Monterey.

His sentencing is scheduled Jan. 7. District Attorney Brad Burget says the sentence will be life in prison.

Adams was killed in her bedroom and the Ellards in a nearby shack in August 2012. Both women were stabbed; John Ellard was shot.

The grand jury that indicted Ponthieux could not agree about his girlfriend, Debbie Adams.

Burget says he plans to bring her before another grand jury in January.
