Mandeville police book man with harassing girls

MANDEVILLE, La. (AP) - A Mandeville man was arrested after he allegedly kissed and fondled a 12-year-old girl and later tried to lure her and her sister to his home, authorities said Tuesday.
Juan Velasques, 51, allegedly approached the girl on Saturday, kissed her and stroked her breasts, Mandeville police spokesman Eric Gulino said.
The girl left, but Velasques later approached her and an older sister. The girls told their mother.
Velasques was booked into the St. Tammany Parish jail with indecent behavior with a juvenile, simple battery and failure to register as a sex offender.
Velasques told officers he is an immigrant from El Salvador in the United States illegally, Gulino said. Immigration authorities have been notified. Gulino said.
