Man, Woman Arrested in Opelousas Drug Bust

An Opelousas man and woman are booked on drug charges after a narcotics investigation in Opelousas. Officers say a home in the 1600 block of Iris Drive was investigated for several months before the arrests. Police say when they searched the home, they found 36 gram sized bags of powered cocaine inside a Valentine's Day teddy bear. Police say they also found evidence of distribution and processing inside the home, including scales and packaging materials used to sell cocaine. Officers say they seized the drugs as well as over $5000.00 in cash and a 2005 Dodge Magnum used to distribute the drugs. The estimated street value of the cocaine is valued at $3000.00. Arrested and charged in the seize were
Terrance Hathfield and Jasmina Joseph. Both were booked for Possession with intent to Dist. Schedule II narcotics, possession of a C.D.S. in the presence of persons under 17, and Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses. Joseph was additionally charged with obstruction of justice.
