PLAQUEMINE, La. (AP) - A White Castle man convicted of killing his wife and stepdaughter in 2007 has been sentenced to serve the rest of his life in prison.
State District Judge Alvin Batiste sentenced 63-year-old Ervin Allen Sr. Wednesday.
The Advocate reports Allen was convicted May 11 of two counts of second-degree murder.
Prosecutors said Allen left divorce court proceedings on June 12, 2007, drove to his home and shot his wife in the back of her head while she was using a computer.
After killing his wife, District Attorney Ricky Ward said Allen went after his stepdaughter, Herkeshia Young.
Ward said Allen killed the 27-year-old woman by shooting at her through a door, breaking through the door and shooting her again.
