Man sentenced for sex crimes

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) A Rapides Parish man has been given 12 99-year sentences along with two 40-year sentences for sexual assaults and pornography involving children aged 2 and 5 when the abuse first started.
Authorities say 56-year-old James Edward Davis pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of forcible rape, two counts of aggravated incest and 10 counts of pornography involving juveniles.
Two charges of molestation of juveniles were dropped, along with 15 charges of pornography involving juveniles, as part of the plea agreement.
But Davis also agreed to waive his right to file any post-trial motions, like an appeal.
State District Judge Thomas Yeager agreed to the sentence recommended by Rapides Parish Assistant District Attorney Monique Metoyer and accepted by Davis and his attorney.
