ELM GROVE, La. (AP) - A 52-year-pld Elm Grove man has been sentenced to two years in jail for possession of an illegal silencer.

A news release says U.S. District Judge Tom Stagg on Wednesday accepted Brett Roberts' guilty plea for possessing a homemade silencer.

Louisiana Wildlife and fisheries Enforcement Division agents started the investigation in November of 2009 after receiving tips that Roberts was illegally night hunting in the Bossier and Webster parish areas.

Undercover agents made contact with Roberts and tagged along during some of his illegal hunts.

The agents discovered that Roberts used a homemade silencer on a .22-caliber rifle to kill deer at night and out of season.
