EDGARD, La. (AP) - The man accused of killing a 15-year-old girl in LaPlace has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge in the death.
Earnest Joseph III, 27, entered the plea Wednesday during a brief court appearance in Edgard.
A St. John the Baptist Parish grand jury indicted Joseph last week in the beating death of Taylor Adams, whose body was found in her home Dec. 5.
Adams lived down the street from Joseph and authorities have said the two knew each other. However, authorities haven't released a motive for the killing.
If convicted of second-degree murder, Joseph would face a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole or probation.
