LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - A 57-year-old Lafayette man has pleaded
guilty to a manslaughter charge after setting his girlfriend on
fire in August 2007.
The Advocate reports Wilbert Clark Jr. received a 40-year prison
sentence Tuesday in the death of Sandra Anderson, whom he set on
fire at the couple's home.
Clark's attorney, J. Kirk Piccione, said Clark poured gasoline
on the bed while Anderson was sleeping and then lit the fire.
Afterward, Piccione said Clark rode his bicycle to the Lafayette
Parish Sheriff's Office where he confessed to the incident.
