BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Baton Rouge man has pleaded guilty to alcohol-related vehicular homicide charges in a fiery Interstate 10 crash that killed five members of a Georgia family, including a 2-year-old, in 2009.
The Advocate reports 31-year-old Dwayne Leggett entered his plea Monday before state District Judge Trudy White. Leggett will be sentenced on Sept. 7. He is free on bail.
State troopers have said Leggett was intoxicated when his westbound pickup slammed into the rear of another pickup on Oct. 2, 2009.
Two-year-old Alondra Brionca died at the scene.
Fifty-four-year-old Maria Barrillos, her daughters, 27-year-old Sonia Gomez Brionca and 35-year-old Jacqueline Gomez and son, 22-year-old Rito Gomez, died days later from their injuries.
The family was from Ashburn, Ga.
