HAMMOND, La. (AP) - Tangipahoa Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating an overnight fatal accident near Hammond.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards says a car driven by 52-year-old Foster Cooper of Hammond was traveling eastbound on Wardline Road Thursday night when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone on a bridge.
Edwards say Cooper's car struck a van driven by 44-year-old Tamara Gray, also of Hammond.
Cooper was killed upon impact. The passenger in the front right seat was air lifted to a New Orleans hospital and a second passenger in the rear seat, was taken to North Oaks hospital in Hammond.
Gray and her passengers were also taken to North Oaks with minor injuries.
