We begin this evening with a 39 year old man named Mitch Jackson.
Police say 5 days ago he was involved in a 5-car pile up on Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette, but he left the scene.
Another driver involved also left the scene, but its what happened in the hours after the accident that has Mitch's family concerned.
He didn't come home, didn't call anyone- he's just gone.
Cpl. Paul Mouton: "Our traffic division, hit and run section is looking for the two drivers that fled the scene of the crash and our detectives are looking for the missing man, who was reported to us missing by the family of Mitch Jackson."
Tallie Jackson, wife: "He said its hard to get a good steak on a cruise ship so lets go to texas road house, we'll eat a steak, meet you at 7."
That was the last conversation Tallie Jackson had with her husband Mitch this past Friday. The couple was to leave for a vacation on Sunday and Mitch was running errands when according to police he was involved in a nasty wreck. His pickup truck and 4 other vehicles were damaged. But before police arrived on the scene, Mitch left-- he drove to Home Depot, parked, then crossed over to Bed Bath and Beyond:
"He left his eyeglasses, his blood pressure medication, his heart medication in his truck."
Tallie tells KATC Bed Bath and Beyond allowed her to look at security tape, in the video, she says her husband looked confused- he wandered in, walked right out.
Tallie says, "He didn't buy anything, didn't talk to anybody, the next sighting of him was at Hancock Fabric, the young clerk there said he sat on a bench."
As missing person fliers circulate in town, Tallie fears Mitch maybe hit his head, and is confused, doesn't know where he is--
And police want to talk to him about that accident.
