A native of Honduras, living in the U.S. illegally, was arrested in St. Landry Parish on two counts of molestation of a juvenile. Jario Ulices Benitez, 32, is accused of molesting a nine-year-old child in Opelousas. "Detectives began investigating this case after we received an anonymous tip that abuse was possibly taking place. After interviewing the victim, it was learned that Benitez was living in the victim's home at the time of the incident," Captain Megan Vizena said.

Benitez went back to Honduras after he heard about the allegations against him, but investigators arrested him when he returned to the area. "We have also contacted the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement," Vizena said. Benitez is currently being held at the St. Landry Parish Jail with no bond and a hold for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
