Man gets 45-year Term Attempted Rape

GONZALES, La. (AP) - A state district judge has sentenced an
Ascension Parish man convicted of attempted aggravated rape to
serve 45 years in prison.
The Advocate reports 27-year-old John Ryan Stephens of
Prairieville, who remained a fugitive more than five years, was
featured on the "America's Most Wanted" TV show days before he
was recognized and captured in April 2008.
Prosecutors had accused Stephens of inappropriate behavior with
an 8-year-old girl.
Stephens went to trial facing the charge of aggravated rape but
jurors returned a verdict of attempted aggravated rape on Nov. 18,
2009.
Stephens' 45-year prison term comes without benefit of
probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
