MINDEN, La. (AP) - A 48-year-old man who shot at a Webster Parish sheriff's deputy last year has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The Times reportsJesse Christian was sentenced this week. Christian pleaded guilty Aug. 27 to a charge of attempted manslaughter. Christian admitted to discharging his weapon numerous times on Christmas day.
District Attorney Schuyler Marvin said Christian was initially charged with multiple offenses following the incident that took place in Porterville, near Springhill. Christian's girlfriend called the sheriff's office to report Christian was intoxicated and shooting inside the house.
Christian fired a single round at the responding deputy.
