PORT HUDSON, La. (AP) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office says a 53-year-old man fell from a forklift and died at the Georgia-Pacific plant in Port Hudson.
Spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks tells The Advocate that deputies don't suspect foul play. She says the incident remains under investigation pending an autopsy of Joseph "Leon" Boudreaux.
Plant spokeswoman Patty Prats-Swanson says Boudreaux was a nearly 23-year veteran of the plant's fine paper shipping division. She says he was found unresponsive next to a forklift around 2:45 a.m., and had been working alone.
Prats-Swanson says emergency responders at the plant were unable to revive Boudreaux, who was pronounced dead at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary.
