JENNINGS, La. (AP) - Jennings police say a 43-year-old Lafayette man was struck and killed by a train.
Police Chief Todd D'Albor said that 43-year-old Russell Anthony Carrier was struck early Sunday morning by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train.
D'Albor said Carrier was visiting family in the area and had left a local bar and, for whatever reason, ended up laying on the tracks.
He said the conductor saw something on the tracks, but was unable to stop the train.
Carrier's body was sent to Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office for an autopsy.
