Man dies; charges upgraded and deputies seeking two more suspects

Charges against a Moss Bluff man have been upgraded from 2nd degree battery to manslaughter, and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has issued manslaughter warrants for two more men. Matthew V. Crochet died from his injuries as a result of a New Year's Eve fight with 41-year-old Brian D. Diamond, according to the CPSO spokesperson Kim Myers. The fight happened outside of a house on Perkins Rd. in Moss Bluff, "Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man, later identified as Matthew V. Crochet, 36, Moss Bluff, lying on the ground unresponsive. The investigation revealed a physical altercation between Crochet and Diamond occurred at the party where alcohol was served," Myers said. Crochet died on Jan. 2 from severe head trauma.

Investigators said after Diamond and Crochet fought, two other men fought with Crochet. Deputies are looking for Kawliga L. Connelly, 37, and Steven B. Ellis, 40. If anyone knows of their whereabouts, contact the Sheriff's Office at 337-491-3605.
