The man accused of kidnapping his own child has bonded out of the Avoyelles Parish Jail. Corey Gautreaux, 24, is charged with simple kidnapping, simple battery and unauthorized entry into inhabited dwelling. According to an Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson, there is no existing legal paper work that gives Gautreaux custody of his three-year-old daughter.

Gautreaux's family members told KATC, he did not kidnap the girl, rather it was his weekend with her and he took her from her maternal grandmother's house despite resistance from the grandmother. The sheriff's office spokesperson said Gautreaux is accused of knocking down the grandma several times. The family now has an attorney and KATC is waiting on an official statement.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Gautreaux at his mother's house in Turkey Creek.
