Man Charged with Holding Girlfriend's Children Hostage

A Lake Charles man is charged with two counts of kidnapping this morning after allegedly holding his girlfriend's children hostage. Investigators say Kendal Runnels went to the house and began arguing with the girlfriend, who escaped and called police. They also say Runnels fired a handgun twice before holing himself up in the house. Officials say Runnels released the two children, aged 6 and 7, after a nearly three-and-a-half hour standoff. A few minutes later, he surrendered without incident.
