Man Booked in Fatal Boating Accident

MANDEVILLE, La. (AP) - A Mandeville man has been booked in a
boating accident that killed his friend.
Authorities say 35-year-old Darren Sabathier died Memorial Day
weekend when he was thrown overboard while returning from a late
night fishing trip in Lake Pontchartrain. His body was recovered on
May. 28.
Thomas Edmonds was booked with negligent homicide while
operating a watercraft, plus reckless operation. He also was cited
for not having enough life jackets on board his boat.
Edmonds surrendered at the St. Tammany Parish Jail on Friday.
Defense attorney Gary Jordan told WWL-TV that "it was an
unfortunate accident" and Edmonds will plead not guilty.
